Happy International Literacy Day! Did you know that September is also National Literacy Month? There are so many ways to get involved and support local literacy efforts. Here are 5 suggestions happening right here in the city:

1. Sign-up for a library card with the Memphis Public Libraries or host a library card sign-up event.

2. Sign-up to volunteer for OwlFest, an event where students take home 6 free books, with the Governor's Early Literacy Foundation.

4. Shop at Novel Memphis Bookstore and support Literacy Mid-South until September 14th.

5. Honor the legacy of Dolly Parton's love for books and donate to Porter-Leath's Books from Birth program or Dolly Parton's Imagination Library.
